I understand that there exist differences yet I do not fully understan either of them. Also a link to valuable reading would be good. Thank you, smart people.

I work for a company that contracts out their employees to other businesses.
I was contracted out to one business, and there is a woman who works there.
I am always placed near the front of the building, so she always has to pass by. She has been making jokes over the past month or so.
Jokes like, “what did you bring me for dinner?”
On Valentine’s Day, she asked if I brought her some roses. I don’t celebrate holidays over religious reasons, so I had nothing. She said she thought we were valentines, and that I’m being “trifling.” She said this all jokingly, there was no anger in her voice.
And today, I had some of my favorite candies (Andes mint chocolate bars), and I offered her some. She said she’d have to pick it up later. But when I was sent upstairs for a particular reason for the business, I came across her. She asked if I brought her the chocolates, to which I said I left them downstairs. She said we’d “have to get a divorce, because I don’t pay attention.” Again, this came out entirely jokingly.
I think anyone reading this has probably put together I think she has a crush on me, as she keeps bringing up more romantic ideas in a joking manner. A way of putting herself out there without actually having to put herself out there. I think.
But I have not been out on a date in years, not even tried. I don’t trust my instincts anymore. I would feel a lot better if I had some corroboration of this, or possibly if you guys believe she might just be playing around for fun.
I’d hate to ruin a friendship by turning things all embarrassing because I read her wrong.
What do you guys think?

I am a student studying to be an elementary school teacher and I am currently in a Reading practicum class in a 4th grade elementary school classroom. I have a case study student who I need to assess (the teacher already told me she reads on a 1st grade level) but I need to assess her myself. Do you have any suggestions of tests I can give her? I have a Phonemic Awareness test and I also thought about doing a Yopp-Singer test as well.
After I am done assessing her I need to formulate 8 lesson plans for her. I do not even know what to begin teaching her, even if her assessments come out poorly. Do I start with sight words?
I would love an experienced teacher’s help or a reading specialist to point me in a direction and show me some websites.

I’m 22 and have read a lot about it. I think I have it and I’m making an appointment with my doctor for an assessment.
I want to know: what kind of tests will they give me and how long will it take?
Thank you.

I’m for testing. But, when a school gets a bad grade on a state exam, the first solution always seems to be to add more reading and math classes to the kids’ day. As a music teacher, adding more rehearsals because of a bad state assessment rating would be viewed as merely stupid. I need to do a better job with the time I already have. If not, that’s just an extra hour or so of more ineffective teaching. Why do schools do this with reading and math? Instead of cutting electives to do extra reading, or having music and science teachers give reading lessons for the first 15 minutes of their classes, shouldn’t the teachers be re-evaluating their techniques and being more efficient with the 50 or so minutes of instruction they already have with the kids? I am not saying that the teachers are bad. You can be the best communicator in the world, but that particular way of teaching concept X just might not be working. An extra hour of the same thing isn’t going to make the child learn more.

We pay, through our tax dollars, for agencies like the EPA to protect and monitor the environment. Assumably this means that they have spent the money (pre assessment era) to collect information on the environment. Now they have started a process which makes industry responsible for providing a “drawn conclusion” for the agency to vote yes or no on. Aren’t we paying the agency itself to do this work and assess the environment? Why aren’t government agencies providing the basis for drawing a conclusion instead of asking a biased third party to provide the information? Better yet, are their salaries justified for simply reading a report (Environmental Impact Assessment) and saying yes or no? I thought we paid them to be experts.. . .

I applied as a service clerk, I read about people applying as pharmacy technicians but is it any different as a service clerk? From what I’ve read you go in a separate room on a computer to complete the assessment, is there an interview after that?

I am a reading specialist/clinician specializ(s)ing in the assessment and therapeutic intervention of learning disabled students. I am seeking a community of specialists (including psychologists/speech language pathologists/reading specialists) who work as a multi-disciplinary team and who are focussed on providing the means to achieve results. The practice may be part of either a private or a government agency. What is the best way to contact these agencies or to find out about their existence?

I had to read the book “beware princess Elizabeth” and my instructions are to write an assessment if i were placed in the position of Queen Elizabeth. Am I suppost to write just a normal 5 paragraph essay? or is an assesment something else?
